1)
Work on the FC stock photo project that started with the NYU FC people: Take pictures of commonly referenced stock photo subjects and Flickr them under CC licenses. This could kick off with a start-of-year scavenger hunt, getting people to shoot, say, 1,000 common stock art subjects and Flickr them, and then be ongoing, with leader boards. Another contests could include "Picture Your 'Hollywood' Animals," consisting of stock photos of animals and other living creatures and matched to Hollywood celebrities, executives, agents, films, songs, etc.
2)
Organize a twice-monthly speaker's corner (work with other clubs such as debate and rhetoric, as well as political clubs and even religious ones) -- set up milk-cartons and just get people to stand on them and give improptu talks on whatever. Crowd participation, call and response, etc. This is excellent activist training and resonates with the world's best free speech traditions. Need to check out details re: current speech hour. Make pamphlet, reach out to other groups.
3)
Outdoor film-screenings: against the sides of buildings, of This Film is Not Yet Rated, Steal This Movie, & Crispin Glover's What is It.

Turn Yourself In (DRM) Day9)
Howard Berman protest: If Andy wants press, this is prob. the best idea if we can get a decent turn-out by end of semester. Howard Berman, called the "Hollywood" Congressman from the Valley will run a key sub-comm. re: Intell. Policy. Here's a LAX
article and a
post by Larry Lessig (thanks Cory). Keep this is the back of your minds and could be a good end-game motivator for people to be involved in a dramatic public action guaranteed to get national press. A unique opportunity given that he's in our "neighborhood."
10)
Other Direct Actions that little birdies have mentioned which we can keep offline. We'll can say one, it would involve getting naked....
11)
Engage Music Dept: Matt will f/u.
12)
Artists Collection Society Project: see link. multi-pronged, complex project. A dynamic project to challenge the music industry's current standards re: collective licensing terms and conditions.
OVERALL ISSUES
- Viral Marketing: Should use social networks/viral marketing better this semester. Someone other than Cameron should take this on. It be nice if a woman would do this. My gut, and Danah Boyd's research, shows that if people see "administrators" are attractive women sending out event invites, it makes a difference.
- Flyer PR: need to flyer like crazy for events
- Get more grad. students involved
- Use Horizontal tech. tools for USC FC but also have clear responsibilities assigned. Foster collaboration through wiki, blog, etc.
